Frequently Asked Questions

LET US EXPLAIN

While the team here at Coopers Store are well versed in Australian Hardwood Timbers, we understand that to many people, all this talk of timber, coupled with design lingo and bespoke finishes can be like a different language. Below we have answered some of our more frequently asked questions, but by all means, contact us for more information about any of our products or processes. We’d welcome to the opportunity to share our passion.

DO YOU DO CUSTOM MADE PIECES?

Yes, we do. All pieces are made to order and therefore anything is able to be custom made; in differing size, timber and design. We have a lot of people come in with a drawing or photo from Pinterest asking if we could do something similar – Yes, we certainly can!

HOW LONG WILL MY ORDER TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Lead time can vary at different times of the year, but a good rule of thumb is 12 weeks from date of deposit. Some people will be quite shocked by this, but it is quite standard in a made to order situation and even more so for custom made pieces. We ask for your patience while your Coopers pieces are being created, it is a labour of love.

WHY USE RECYCLED TIMBER?

Recycled Timbers gives beauty and history to your new table. Rich natural patina with warm colour palette which cannot be achieved from NEW timbers.A strong commitment to the environment is the reason we love to use Recycled timbers. Out of all materials used for making furniture Recycled timber is certainly the most sustainable option. Our timbers are sourced from all over Australia to be re-purposed from old building materials, telegraph poles, factories to be crafted into an item with a past to take into your future.

WHAT SPECIES OF TIMBER DO YOU USE?

We craft our furniture from Recycled Australian Hardwoods which are considered some of the most beautiful timbers in the world. The timbers we use are Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Wormy Chestnut, American Oak, Cambia Ash, Silvertop Stringybark, White Oak and Recycled Oregon.

WHAT FINISHES DO YOU USE?

A product which has a unique blend of natural oil and wax. It’s;

  • Hard wearing
  • Chemical free
  • A natural finish
  • Resistant to staining from liquids
  • Possible to repair in if sections are damages as opposed to complete table resurfacing
  • Ideal for recycled timber as it penetrates the timbers to highlight the rich warmth of the colour and grain
  • Something that requires minimal on going maintenance
